My wife Anne and I are closing this website that was dedicated to the idea that working an ERV is not something that you do because you cannot do anything else. It was and still is our firm belief that the ERVs really are the flagships of Red Cross disaster response. The volunteers working on ERVs are some of the most dedicated and best-trained volunteers of the American Red Cross. This page and the materials within it were our effort to try and make the ERV training the very best possible training possible.
Working through the Santa Clara Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross, we set up this page and provided free access to the materials for any who wanted them. In the several years that this page was active we experienced tens of thousands of hits from Red Cross volunteers all over the United States. We received a lot of satisfaction from the comments that we got back by way of email.
National now has an authorized, standardized course of materials for teaching ERV training. This standardized course is a compilation of our training materials as well as materials from those before and after us. This new material is titled “ERVS: READY, SET, ROLL,” ARC 3068-4A. These new materials, a videotape and handbook, follow our concept of being a home study course. We have reviewed these new materials and find them to be a very good first effort by National. As such, and in order to not cause any confusion with the National training program, we are removing this site and the materials within. Thanks to everyone for your comments and encouragements over the years.
